2nd ATENEO REVERSE CAROLING 2009

In the spirit of thanksgiving for all the blessings received from God, the Center for Community Development together with the volunteers from the Center for Community Development-Volunteers (CCD-Voltz) and Liga ng mga Estudyante sa Agham Pampulitika (LEAP) and the University Band were inspired to give more once again for Christmas through singing the songs of love, joy and hope and sharing gifts to the community. This initiative was entitled the 2nd Reverse Caroling held last 18 December 2009 at the Municipality of Buhi, Camarines Sur.

The 2009 Reverse Caroling started its campaign as early as November last year through the collection of donations (money or in-kind) from the Ateneo community. By buying a Christmas parol with the amount of Php. 70.00, the proceeds were used in purchasing groceries for the family beneficiaries in the barangays of Buhi, Camarines Sur, namely, Sta. Justina, Gabas, Antipolo, Sagrada and Sta. Cruz. There were 35 families who benefited from the carolling. It was a whole-day activity in which the participants and volunteers enjoyed singing Christmas carols in the sound of music of the University Band. Furthermore, the said activity was administered by the Center for Community Development-Volunteers (CCD-Voltz) Moderators, Mr. Aldrin Belmes and Mr. Larry Sucatre and the Barangay Captains of the said municipality.

Last year’s Reverse Caroling marked a sense of fulfilment and joy in every heart of family beneficiaries, participants and volunteers. As the saying goes by C. Neil Strait, “Happiness is what millions seek. The tragedy is that they seek it in things, positions, and places. True happiness is found in doing a job well, knowing there is a purpose in its doing, and in seeking others’ benefit from its accomplishment.”
