Golden Rings and Candlelights

The Ateneo de Naga University College of Nursing held its Third Clinical Graduation and Ring Hop Ceremony last 18 March 2010 at the University Gymnasium at 4:00 PM. The Ignatian Nurses, their friends and relatives, and faculty members were all present to savor the momentous event.

Living the Faith Through Service

The Clinical Graduation started with a Welcome Address by Dr. Ma. Clara Ll. Rubino, RN, MAN, Dean of the College of Nursing, followed by an Invocation by Fr. Jose Embile, SJ and the singing Philippine National Anthem, with music provided by the University Band headed by its Director, Loriel Artiaga.

Ring Hop Ceremony

A round backdrop, concealed by a yellow cloth was in fact a large replica of a ring. It was unveiled by  Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ, University President, and Amelia Enriquez, Chief Nurse of Bicol Medical Center, with the assistance of Dr. Rubino. The Lighting of the Nightingale’s Lamp care of Ms. Claire P. De Jesus, RN, MN, Clinical Instructor, soon followed.
Dr. Rubino then presented the 158 candidates for clinical graduation, and Fr. Tabora finally declared them as graduates of the clinical program of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The graduates were presented by their moderators: Dennis Locsin, RN, MN for RR41, Emma Intia, RN, MAN for RR42, Vilma Zapata, RN, MAN, for RR43, and Ms. Malou Vargas, RN for RR44. Parents and relatives then accompanied the candidates to the center of the ring for the imposition of the rings.

Awards Ceremony

Leadership and Service Awards were also given. Service Award was conferred on Erika Albunan, Angeli Ayo, Mark Borja, Cindy Imperial, Shayne Lee, Jobelle Medina, Ledda Merced, Rosemelle Mortega, Amado Nidea, and Tara Rogando. Leadership Award was conferred on Mark Borja and Ledda Merced. The Academic Citation for Outstanding Performance was conferred on Benjie Arel and Leah Rebutiaco (5th Place), Gisel Labalan (4th Place), Mark Borja (3rd Place), Anne Luz Santos (2nd Place), and Rayan Oliva (1st Place). Lastly, the Academic Citation for Outstanding Performance in RLE was conferred on Rayan Oliva.

After the Awarding Ceremony, Fr. Tabora delivered an inspirational speech to the clinical graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing this year. It was followed by the recitation of the Pledge. Mark Kevin Borja, Shayne Anne Lee, and Jobelle Medina also shared their testimonies and aspirations for the batch.

The event ended with a Candle Lightning Ceremony and the singing of the batch song, followed by the university Hymn.
