 The First ever Bicol Foods and Beverages Expo (BIFBEX) 2009 held on September 15-17, 2009 at Avenue Convention Plaza, with the theme: “BIFBEX ’09 – Philippine Hospitality Industry: Meeting the Challenges of the Global Market” was a venue for our Tourism students to actively participate in the various Inter-School Event Competitions and Seminars. The seminars attended to by Tourism students include Seminar on Hospitality Management: Special Function in an Event; and International Standards in Housekeeping Management.
In the various competitions, the Tourism students got 1st place in the cultural presentation with our very own Ms. Mariam O. Saavedra as the Trainer; got 2nd place in the Cocktail Mixing Challenge; got 3rd place in the Table Setting for Six Challenge; and actively participated in the Creative Dessert with Plate Presentation Challenge; Cake Decorating Challenge and the Live Cooking Challenge. To top, the title for Mr. and Miss BIFBEX was garnered by Richard & Mica, both BSBA DTM students.
Dean Adriano expressed her gratitude for the faculty and students who, without any form of reservation supported the events. The college hopes to continuously be a partner in the tourism industry of the region.
