College of Education launched “Great Minds Read Program”
by: Jeanny Raynes-Salvadaor

To develop absorbed readers, form reflective students, and ultimately cultivate the love for reading among students, the College of Education launched the “Great Minds Read Program” last 28 September 2009 at the Instructional Media Center.

More than a hundred students attended the session including faculty members. Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, Dean of the College of Education, encouraged students to develop the habit and appreciation of reading. He stressed the value of reading as fundamental in daily life and that the inability to read is tantamount to the inability to teach.

Mrs Jeanny Raynes-Salvador, Program Director, provided the participants a brief history of the inception and the underlying principles behind the Reading Program.

Three brave souls of young and vibrant ladies, namely: Miss Cherry Colen Padin (BEED1), Miss Olive Sto. Domingo (BSE 3) and Miss Irene Austria (BSE 3) shared to the audience what they enjoy reading and their personal reflections. The audience gave a positive response, quite amazed by the wonder of reading.

A certificate of appreciation and a modest cash incentive were given to the students-sharers. Miss Cienna Jaucian (BSE 2) served as master of ceremonies.
